Adapted into a movie starring the gorgeous Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson, this book born during NaNoWriMo is a classic star-crossed lovers story. Set in a circus during the Great Depression, this book makes the most of the time and place. A romance between the recently orphaned Jacob, who’s now in charge of the circus menagerie, and the beautiful Marlena, who’s the star of the equestrian act. This book has something for history lovers, animal enthusiasts, and people who want to drown themselves in a heart-rending romance.

We came for the African-Latina representation, and we got it! The book features Emoni Santiago, a single mother trying to juggle all her responsibilities as well as showcase her magical talent at cooking. Full of richness and vibrancy, this story takes you on a journey through struggling with impossible choices, caring for the people around you, and making friends that turn into something more.
