After School Lessons for Unripe Apples Plot
Mi-ae is an average girl trying to survive high school. She tries her best to pass exams and loves karaoke, comics, and the pop group ‘The Fire Boys’. Suddenly her high school life is turned upside down when an acquaintance from her childhood transfers to her school. He stirs up drama and trouble wherever he goes. No matter what she does to try and get along with him, he avoids her, gets annoyed, and doesn’t appreciate her. The question is why is that!?

Mi-ae Hwang
Mi-ae isn’t the super studious type. When she tries to study, she is obsessing over comics, karaoke night with her friends, and the boy group ‘The Fire Boys’. She keeps to herself and tries to appease her parents’ expectations. They sometimes put her down and assume she isn’t trying hard enough. Regardless she gets along with her friends and tries to study as much as she can to pass.
When her acquaintance from childhood transfers to her school, immediately their names remind everyone of a 90s singing duo. If that wasn’t enough, his reputation is that of a dangerous, brooding, thug who fights. Yet, when their new neighbors happen to be her childhood acquaintance’s parents, she tries to befriend him; however, he makes it clear that he wants to be left alone.
Cheol Kim
Cheol Kim just wants a fresh start and no drama. Yet, even if he is quiet, he is still the talk of the school. Everyone is afraid of him because he is very quiet, tall and brooding. His temper is intense when instigated but he always remains studious. Despite his hard efforts to adjust and cause no drama, people coarse him and the teachers don’t really believe his true intent. He just wants to be left alone.
He was transferred because of self defense to help someone, and now he is labeled a thug who fights. What makes it worse is that his childhood acquaintance Mi-ae is his new desk mate and neighbor. He doesn’t want to befriend her at all and assumes she is like everyone else. But, when Mi-ae starts talking to him, showing up unexpectedly in places, he is cautious and curious of her motives.
