Famed American broadcaster Anderson Cooper has just announced his new book, Vanderbilt: The Rise and Fall of an American Dynasty. The book is written in conjunction with Katherine Howe, a historical fiction author, and will be published by Harper Collins on September 21st of this year.
The Vanderbilts were once the wealthiest family in American history. Their fortune continued through to the mid-20th century when their glorious mansions and houses were torn down, sold, or turned into museums. For those who may not know, Cooper is a descendent of the Vanderbilts on his maternal side. He has even written a prior book in collaboration with his mother called The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss, which chronicles the intimate relationship between the mother and son duo.
Because of Cooper’s relation to the Vanderbilt family, the book promises an inside look at one of the last great American dynasties and how it came to be. Cooper and Howe reflect on Cornelius Vanderbilt’s beginnings in America and all of the triumphs and tragedies in-between until the fall of the family’s prominence in recent years.
