We’re just starting to cool down after the hot new release that was Stephen King’s IT. Who knew a movie about a clown could cause such a surge in pop culture? The potential was there and the movie raked in over $300 million dollars!
Now buckle up because Pennywise isn’t done dancing yet. I’m talking about Chapter Two, and, no, we’re not clowning around.

I specifically recall watching the 90s IT adaptation and how the adult version was more deeply involved in the characters. I didn’t understand some of it, but I did understand that it was meant to be as stressful as it was scary. What scared you as a kid may be more haunting as an adult and this is exactly how Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård describes it. Plus, we get a better backstory for Pennywise, according to Digital Spy. Skarsgård said:
I think the right way to do it is to make that movie actively different. I think there might be worth exploring sort of the psychological aspects of horror, but also maybe the sort of cosmological existence of this being. What is he, and where does he come from?
This idea of delving into the mind of a demonic spirit in clown form is somewhat addressed in the novel. However, the actor believes they could take it to a new level for numero dos. “I mean, it’s very abstract. And I kind of like that. IT could be almost a sort of [serialized] surrealistic psychedelic trip if you go into the mind of Pennywise.”
Yeah, that’s creepy, but I’m excited to see how they’ll do it! Mind-altering, hallucinatory horror? Sign us up!
