Hello there, Bookish Tweeters! Told you I’d be here, didn’t I? (Just a little later in the day.)
Anyway, before we officially start this hefty course of bookish tweets – not as hefty as the previous few tweets-pieces had been, but still very filling – I want to say happy birthday to the number one most clever poet and playwright to ever roam this earth, whose legacy will always be carried on through his poems and plays, as well as all the memes we will continue to make about them… Sir William Shakespeare! (Note: I can’t remember if he was ever knighted or not, but “sir” definitely brings a nicer ring to his name.)
Anyway, all that said, let us all grace his legacy by looking upon and cherishing all the bookish tweets with memes involving his classic works to forever ingrain them in our brains, and then some, and get right down to business…
You’ve Changed…
We can all become completely different after a significant event such as a pandemic, so don’t be surprised when a lot of folks you used to know eventually turn out like this…

It’s like what they always say: Be careful who you make fun of… because they might just end up bootlegging for a living and having mansion parties every night all to impress the girl of their dreams from across the bay – and they could totally pay off your credit card debt, no problem!
Give Me Time
When you’re rereading an old classic from long ago – something I’m currently doing with one of my old beloved books from five years back – and you go over parts you either don’t remember reading or didn’t understand the first time around and then it finally hits you like…
A really underrated part of Hamlet is the scene where Hamlet tries to get Guildenstern to play the pipe and Guildenstern says he doesn't know how and Hamlet says "funny how you can't play the pipe but you thought you could play ME"

Don’t believe me? Read it for yourself…

That is a great – if not the greatest burn in a Shakespeare play if I’ve ever seen one and it seems as though it were nothing to Hamlet, the emo sass-master himself! (This one’s for you, Birthday Boy Billy Shake…)
Speak No Evil… Or Anything Else
This one in particular goes out to all the introverts out there…

As an introvert myself, this hits home too well…
Ride of the Inquiries
Don’t you just hate all those pesky emails that do nothing much than clog up your inbox? I’d bet that they never did anything like this to you…
"I hope this email finds you well."

And if they do, unplug for a day or two, hire an assistant to keep your inbox up-to-date, and you should be fine.
Pets or Pests?
When you get (or perhaps create) a pet (or creature) and they cause nothing but mischief, which defeats the entire purpose of having a pet…

New and aspiring pet-owners beware: This could happen to you someday!
Absolute Bookish Torture
When you’re reading a book that you’re trying so hard to get more into, but it keeps going in all different directions with subplots or tangents, and you want it to come back to the main plot…

Do yourself a favor, and watch either the movie or the musical of Les Mis instead! (I’ve never seen them myself, but I know they wouldn’t be as torturous as the OG Les Mis.)
The Worst Timing
When, after swearing off dating, the perfect piece of eye candy comes strutting by your way…

Seriously, I think we’ve all been here! (Granted, when this happened to me, the “eye candy” in question was already taken, but still, it was very unfortunate timing…)
And now, for the bonus tweets!
Bonus Tweet #1: All About How You Say It
You may have seen this kind of tweet before, but there’s always time for a refresher: If you’re looking for other ways to end off emails to your friends or colleagues? Try these on for size…
Fun email sign-offs you can use instead of "Warm regards":
– "Good night sweet prince"
– "Parting is such sweet sorrow"
– "I am gone forever"
– "Forever and forever farewell, Brutus. / If we do meet again, we'll smile indeed; / If not, ’tis true this parting was well made."— SparkNotes (@SparkNotes) April 20, 2021
One thing’s for sure: They’ll certainly remember you and this might make a good ice-breaker for the next time you make contact again!
Bonus Tweet #2: Version 1 vs. Version 2
When the comment you say out loud doesn’t exactly measure up to the comment you made it out to be in your head…
I don't know about you but I love Darcy's first proposal pic.twitter.com/r9Nk9DU72T
— SparkNotes (@SparkNotes) April 21, 2021
…only in Darcy’s case, I don’t think he views both as such in any means, so… good job, Darcy?
Bonus Tweet #3: All the World’s the Same?
When you low-key run out of ideas for new material, so you reuse some of the same tropes, plots, and characters over and over again, hoping that no one would notice…
— SparkNotes (@SparkNotes) April 23, 2021
You know it’s all in good jest, Birthday Boy! But really though, go back to the bar and take some (more) pointers from Marlow…
And to cap off this piece for the end of this week, here’s an all-too-relatable tweet in the form of a classic painting…

As a chronic procrastinator myself, I feel called out and attacked.
