Say hello to Bookstr’s bookstagrammer of the week, Marcy from @marcyreads. Along with having a bookstagram filled with good recommendations and great pictures, she’s also a huge book collector so you know her favorites are going to be some good picks.
Why did you start your Bookstagram?
I started my Bookstagram Marcy Reads solely to talk about books with others who shared the same love of reading. Growing up and even now in my adult life, I don’t have any IRL friends or family members who like reading. Every time I talk about books they just don’t get it. I mean, they listen to me and nod yes in agreement but deep down they don’t know what it feels like to fully immerse yourself in a novel and fall in love with it. So I figured being on Bookstagram would give me an outlet to share my feelings with people who would get me.
Where are you from?
I’m currently living in Georgia but I’m originally from Miami, FL born and raised. From the beaches to the mountains baby.
What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?
A safe place where we can gush and obsess about books. I want it to be a happy place where when someone stumbles across it can put a smile on their face and where we can bond over shared favorite stories.
What’s Your Special Approach to Content?
Maybe not the best approach but I go by my mood. I’ve tried to plan out my content so many times but just like trying to stick to a designated monthly TBR, it just doesn’t happen.
What does your Bookstagram mean to you?
It’s my distraction and my pick me up on those hard mental days. It means community to me. It gives me a sense of belonging alongside my bookish people.
Any advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers?
Just have fun! Post what you love and ignore the numbers because it will drive you mad.
Lists Of Favorites
Favorite fandoms:
I love anything related to the GrishaVerse. Shadow and Bone is one of my favorite YA fantasies along with Six of Crows. I’m also a Constant Reader, don’t know if this is considered a fandom, I think it is though.
Favorite book cover:
Why are you doing this to me? I need to cheat a little bit here because I would have to go with an artist as opposed to just one cover. I always tend to gawk at the covers by Daniele Serra. His work is just incredible and I feel like he depicts the content of the book so well with his art. One of the books I mention as a favorite, The Rust Maidens, the cover is done by Daniele and I feel like it contributed so much to the story.
Favorite Bookstore:
Half Price Books. I love shopping for used books and they have the biggest selection. I also love visiting my local Books-A-Million.
Favorite Bookstagrammers:
Oh my, so many to list and I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings for leaving them out but here are a few

Favorite Books and Authors:
Some of my favorite books are I Am Legend, The Rust Maidens, A Cosmology of Monsters, Lisey’s Story, and I can’t leave out It. My favorite authors include Stephen King, Gwendolyn Kiste, Josh Malerman, Kristopher Triana, Brian Keene, and also Leigh Bardugo.
TBR List:
I will give you my top 3 off of my neverending TBR because if not we’ll be here all day. The Cellar by Richard Laymon, Body Art by Kristopher Triana, and The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig.
Fun Facts And Additional Bookishness
Fictional Crush:
This is always so hard for me to answer because I don’t tend to have fictional crushes but if I had to choose one it would be Roland of Gilead from The Dark Tower series.
Fun Fact about you:
Besides reading, I’m obsessed with playing video games, especially Animal Crossing. A perfect day for me would be sitting down with my earbuds in listening to a horror audiobook while playing ACNH. It’s my perfect balance.
Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?
Probably Tor Books and also Del Rey Books. They just always seem to release some of my most anticipated books.
Author to take a selfie with:
Definitely Stephen King although I would be a bit intimidated and also Leigh Bardugo. I couldn’t pick just one.
Any additional bookishness you’d like to share with us?
I’m a huge collector of books. If I have a favorite book you best believe I’m going to own multiple editions. I’m currently working on collecting different editions of Christine and also It by Stephen King, I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, and Bird Box by Josh Malerman. Every time I find one in the wild my heart gets so so happy. Mega book nerd over here.
