This is a sci-fi novel that takes place amidst the ruins of a crumbling society. The Renegades are a clan of prodigies who have emerged from this dystopia, set to establish peace and order. As symbols of justice, they are meant to restore faith and hope in the people, except for the villains who they had once overthrown. Character Nova hates the Renegades and hopes to one day have her revenge. Yet, she meets Renegade Adreinne and her plan is thrown off by this justice seeking individual. He believes in Nova that she will choose to do the right thing, but is her vengeance too powerful to overcome?
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Set in a dystopian Chicago world, the society is divided into five fractions all based upon the virtues. There are the Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. On one anniversary of every year, those who are 16 years of age must select the fraction in which they will devote the rest of their life to. For Beatrice, she must chose between her family, or being true to who she really is. She ultimately makes a choice that surprises everyone, even herself. She must endure the most that may inevitably destroy her.
