Happy holidays to you and yours! On this week’s edition of BookTok, I have some gut-wrenching recommendations for all of you weirdos out there who love creepy things just as much as I do! Here we will be looking at three disturbing books that you cannot stop reading, regardless of how weird they are. Just a quick disclaimer, make sure you check the warnings for all of the books before you read, because they do feature sensitive content. These books I found from @lettersfrommalaika on TikTok.

Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca

This freaky fiction book is about two women who met in a chat room online. Their relationship begins to take a very strange and disturbing path very quickly. Things become very obsessive, and shockingly dark. There are strong themes of death and sadomasochism, so read with caution.

Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica

Looking for something ridiculously hideous to read? Well, this is the book for you. It is about a dystopian society where humans are specifically bred for meat consumption. How this author came up with this idea? I do not want to know. However, it did cultivate an incredible, thrilling read that amounts to a crazy ending.

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

More sad than disturbing, Booker Prize finalist Yanagihara creates a story where some parts are very hard to read. It follows four friends, centered around Jude who suffered an unspeakable childhood. It is a bit of a slow start, but definitely worth it in the end; it is a beautiful, heart wrenching story.
