For many, the goal for this past year has been to simply survive. And that may mean different things to different people. For example, some may have chosen to survive by pouring themselves into a passion project to stay sane. Last Friday, Saturday Night Live comedian Cecily Strong joined the ranks of celebrities who completed quarantine projects when she announced her new memoir, This Will All Be Over Soon.

Just as the pandemic began last year, Strong wrote an article for Vulture discussing her grief over losing her cousin to brain cancer during quarantine. The article resonated with many who also could not risk being with their loved ones because of social distancing rules. So Strong took inspiration from her honest article and completed a memoir that discusses everything from her high school expulsion to her days at SNL to life in New York during the pandemic. “I didn’t plan on writing a book this year and certainly didn’t think this would be the book I would first write,” Strong said on her Instagram. “But I’m so glad I did and I’m so lucky to have had people in my life to inspire it.”

With rumors swirling that veteran cast members (including Strong) will be leaving SNL, we are so excited to read about Cecily’s personal stories and anecdotes, without having to search for her behind goofy costumes and funny accents. You can pre-order the book here, which comes out on August 10. You can also watch Strong on Apple TV’s television musical Schmigadoon! alongside Keegan-Michael Key, Dove Cameron, and Kristen Chenoweth. It appears Strong’s debut book will be an inspiration to many, and we cannot wait to see what else she does in her career.
