The upcoming film adaptation of Ursula K. Le Guin’s Nine Lives has just revealed two of its cast members. Deadline reports that Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting, Elementary) and Academy Award-winning musician Common (Selma, The Hate U Give) will be playing major roles in the upcoming film. And thankfully, filming will begin summer 2019!

Nine Lives is about the consequences of human cloning, and Siri Rodnes and Tom Basden are in charge of adapting it for the screen. This film will be Rodnes’ directorial debut. The team will be rounded out by producers Gavin Humphries (who has been nominated for the BAFTA award for the short film, Pin Cushion) and Josephine Rose (producer of the horror-comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez).
Le Guin’s prolific career has eared her several awards, and she is widely regarded one of the best science fiction and fantasy writers of our time. Deadline has announced that “Nine Lives has been selected as part of this year’s upcoming project market at the Macau Film Festival.” It will be interesting to see how the story plays out in the big screen!
