Gal Gadot is going to be the Evil Queen! Snow White will be portrayed by Rachel Zegler, who plays Maria in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” (it is her debut feature film).

Gal Gadot is most well-known for her portrayal of Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe. Her other accolades include Linnet Ridgeway in Death on the Nile, a remake of Agatha Christie’s famous book of the same name, and Gisele Yashar in the Fast & Furious franchise. Now she is joining the Disney franchise as the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs!

The latest adaptation of the Snow White fairytale is the 2012 movie and 2016 prequel/sequel starring Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen, Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, and Sam Claflin as William, who later becomes Snow White’s husband. The 2012 movie sparked the affair between the leading lady, Kristen Stewart, and director, Rupert Sanders, which is why neither returned for the prequel/sequel.

This new Disney live-action remake will have Marc Webb directing; he is most famously known for The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, which stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. While the series eventually got canceled due to the deal between Marvel and Sony that gave us Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. The series is nonetheless good and Jamie Foxx, who portrayed Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, is set to reprise that role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third of the Spider-Man movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Not much else is known about the new Disney live-action remake of Snow White, although it is set to start production in 2022. Disney has been developing a live-action ‘Snow White’ since 2016. Other remakes are currently in the work, including The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey, Pinocchio with Tom Hanks, and Lilo and Stitch directed by Jon M. Chu. While we wait patiently for more movies to come out, we can enjoy the already existing Disney live-action movies, such as Mulan, Maleficent and Cinderella!
