With the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones approaching, fans prepare to look back: Kim Renfro, an Insider who’s been covering the show for years, announced on Twitter that she’s writing an “unofficial history” of Game of Thrones:
The book will be an extended version of my articles you’ve likely read on @InsiderInc for the past several seasons. I’m charting the series from inception to its epic coming finale all through the lens of my editorial analysis and using insights I’ve gathered over the years.

“Unofficial histories” are a fairly popular (if niche) genre, and they exist for many popular shows. Renfro will recount the progress of the series “from inception to its epic coming finale”. The popularity and cultural impact that Game of Thrones has had over the years surely makes it worthy of a place in history, and it will be exciting to see it through the lens of a journalist who has followed it from the beginning!
