HBO Max welcomes back the magic of the Harry Potter cast and crew in a newly unveiled trailer! The Return to Hogwarts special celebrates 20 years since the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s (Philosopher’s) Stone, hit the wide, golden screen and ignited a worldwide, cultural phenomenon. The special, which sees the reunion of many cast and crew members, will be aired on New Years Day, 1/1/2022, on HBO Max.
The recently released trailer packs in all the Harry Potter magic and goodness that has bewitched us from the start. We see the return of Robbie Coltrane who plays the kind-hearted half-giant, Rubeus Hagrid, sitting in a coffee shop receiving the iconic Hogwarts stationery fashioned in the form of an invitation. We also see Matthew Lewis, our clumsy and brave Neville Longbottom, receiving his invitation, as well as Mark Williams (the Weasley patriarch) aboard the Hogwarts Express. For the first time since the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in July 2011, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson will appear together in the HBO Max special. Many talented actors from the franchise will also appear in the special. Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Tom Felton, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Bonnie Wright, Jason Isaacs, and many others will join the Gryffindor trio in the special.
According to the Daily Mail, the Return to Hogwarts special will be a focus on the cast and crew’s discussion on the making of the film franchise from start to finish. Chris Columbus, the director of the first film, will also join this magical reunion.
