Stephen King’s terrifying stories are becoming even easier to enjoy as one of his hit novels crosses over into the realm of podcasting.
King, along with Audio Up Media, iHeart Media, and producer Lee Metzger of The Voice will create the audio story Strawberry Spring based on Night Shift, King’s collection of spine-chilling tales, famously containing iconic stories Children of the Corn and The Boogeyman.
Starring Garret Hedlund, Sydney Sweeney of Euphoria, and Milo Ventimiglia of This Is Us, the podcast will follow a detective on the hunt for serial killer Springheel Jack, because it wouldn’t be a King novel without at least one murder.
Metzger, who will write and direct the series, had this to say about the show: “As a lifelong fan of Stephen King, I couldn’t be more excited to work with Jared, Audio Up, and iHeart Media to bring this story to life. I couldn’t ask for a better project for my first scripted podcast.”
But don’t worry, King isn’t sticking to just podcasting. Staying true to his roots, he’s also releasing a new crime novel, Billy Summers, on August 3, and has adapted his 2006 novel Lisey’s Story into an Apple+ series.
