Inaugural poet, Amanda Gorman, publishes her debut illustrated children’s book; a book to inspire children to be the change they want to see.

Inaugural poet, Amanda Gorman, debuts her first, illustrated children’s book on an interview with TODAY.

The book, titled Change Sings, is a collaboration with the #1 New York Times bestselling illustrator, Loren Long. According to Gorman, the book was four years in the making and an anthem to inspire children to be the agents of change in the world. She says, “I wanted to write a children’s book in which young readers can see themselves as real agents of change within the world.”

The children’s book was published on September 21, 2021 by Viking Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Random House. After the performance of her original poem, “The Hill We Climb” at President Biden’s inauguration on January 20th, Gorman rose to fame and her two upcoming books at the time were at the top of Amazon’s bestseller’s list. She was the Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate from 2014-15 and the first National Youth Poet Laureate from 2017-18.
