My fellow Riri Williams stans, it’s time to rise! Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart, will make her MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. If you’re familiar with my work you know that not only am I huge lover of comics, but I’m obsessed with Riri Williams. In fact you can read my last piece on Ironheart, here. So before I faint from excitement, let’s dive into everything we know so far!

Production on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever started on June 29, 2021, and much of the film’s plot has been kept more under secret than the location of vibranium. After the tragic passing of the film’s leading star Chadwick Boseman, Marvel made a conscious (and smart) decision not to recast the role.

Kevin Feige confirmed that Riri Williams will make her first appearance in the Black Panther sequel. Given that Black Panther ended with Wakanda opening up its borders and sharing its resources, with Shuri being made the head of the science program at the first Wakandian embassy, it feels organic that Shuri and Riri would be allies even friends. Actress Dominique Thorne will start filming her scenes for the upcoming sequel, with production on her own series set to begin soon.

Feige said, “We’re shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first. She started shooting, I think, this week before her Ironheart series“.

Did anyone else pick up on the fact Feige said Riri and not Ironheart; so presumably she won’t be suiting up until her own series. *sips hot tea* Ironheart’s spinoff will feature 6 episodes and Chinaka Hodge will serve as the series head writer.

The Black Panther sequel is set to debut July, 8, 2022. Will you be tuning in?
