J.K. Rowling attended the Broadway premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child alongside actress and comedian Jessica Williams Sunday night.
The pair showed off their friendship with an Instagram video announcing that Williams will be playing the role of Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
What we know about Lally Hicks so far is that she is a teacher at the Ivermony School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (which is basically the American equivalent of Hogwarts; just imagine if Hogwarts had actually been located in Massachusetts instead of the Highlands of Scotland).

Rowling also stated that Hicks’ true time to shine won’t come until the third-installment of Fantastic Beasts. Williams has spoken out in the past about her love and fandom for the Harry Potter series and all of her excitement:
“Those movies and books, especially the books, were so important to me. I could not have fathomed that when I was in the fourth grade reading these books, there would be a character I play that exists in this universe. It’s insane to me.” -Williams was reported saying to EW in 2017.
We understand, as our excitement at seeing a powerhouse of talent like Williams, who is widely known for her correspondence on The Daily Show and as the co-host, co-creator, writer, and executive producer of her podcast-turned-HBO-Comedy-Special 2 Dope Queens, take part in such an influential series has us bursting at the seams.
