Another beloved childhood favorite is slated for the big screen—Oh, The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss is officially being made into a full animated film with Jon M. Chu set to direct.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chu will direct the animated film adaptation for Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Warner Animation Group. Additionally, J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot Productions will also delve into animation for the first time as producers of the Dr. Seuss classic. The animated adaptation of Oh, The Places You’ll Go is expected to be released sometime in 2027.
The animation division of Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Animation Group, struck a deal with Dr. Seuss Enterprises in 2018. The deal will give rights to Warner Animation Group to produce a series of animated movies, bringing to life the beloved and iconic characters and the world of Dr. Seuss. The first movie to be released by Warner Animation Group will be The Cat in the Hat which is presently in its early production stages.
By bringing in Chu, Warner Bros. and Dr. Seuss Enterprises will bring a Hollywood creative and favorite. Jon Chu’s repertoire includes the Hollywood hit, Crazy Rich Asians and Lin Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights. It was also recently announced that Chu will direct the Broadway hit, Wicked for Universal Studios.
