When Jill McGlaughlin helped a stray dog, she didn’t think she would end up writing a published book about the experience.
“I had never thought about writing a book ever. No.”
Four years ago, when McGlaughlin’s family was on Thanksgiving vacation in Mississippi, a stray dog followed her and her daughter around after they took a walk through the neighborhood. They named the dog “DD,” and it followed them around the whole week. Unfortunately, they had to leave DD when their vacation was finished.
The further down the road we went, the more we knew that we made the wrong decision, that we really needed her.
DD’s Miracle tells the story of how McGlaughlin and her family came back for DD after they went home from that Thanksgiving vacation. McGlaughlin took DD to a vet and nursed her back to health.
You know, the real life is a lot of these dogs either get hit, they get killed, they even get shot,’ so it was just tragic to think what could happen, and so I just wanted to be able to do what I could for that one little animal and hopefully inspire others to do that too.
When McGlaughlin shared he story with DD on social media, her friends and family encouraged her to write a book about it! And now partial proceeds from DD’s Miracle will go to non-profit animal rights organizations in Virginia and Mississippi that help dogs just like DD.
