2020 is officially over, and with the new year comes new books, new reading challenges, new series, and new ways to love reading. There are many ways to ring in the new year, including new years resolutions; here are a few especially for booklovers to try.
1. Do a reading challenge
There are lots of reading challenges across the web for 2021. Things like “read a certain book per month” or “read a certain number of books per month!” Reading challenges are a great way to stay motivated to read.
2. Try reading a new genre
It’s a trap we all fall into; fantasy, sci-fi, horror, mystery, romance… once you get started on a genre, it’s easy to crave more. I mean, who could ever get enough of deep space adventures or magical prophecies. But a new year means new reads, so try picking up a book that’s not your normal taste. You never know what you might find!
3. Start a new series
There are so many series getting new books in 2021, and even more starting out! Now is the perfect time to start one so you can get and keep the ball rolling!
4. Re-read a favorite
New year, new books- that much is true. But a great way to start off the new year is by re-reading one of your favorites. It can help spark that need to read and get you excited for all the books to come in the new year.
5. Sign up for a book subscription
Is your TBR list seemingly endless? Do you want to read something but don’t know where to start? Do you find it hard to choose a book from your shelf? No worries; there are so many services, such as OwlCrate or Book of the Month to help with that. They can send you a book every month; that way you’ll never run out of fresh reading material and always have something to look forward to. So, a book subscription box is a great way to start your 2021 reading list.
6. Read one chapter a day
We love to read! But it can sometimes be hard to find the time or motivation to sit down and do it. Or sometimes you get stuck on that one chapter because the story is starting to pick up and something horrible is about to happen to your favorite character! Whatever the case, challenging yourself to read just one chapter a day can help take some of the pressure off reading. You don’t have to complete the book, just one chapter. It’ll keep you engaged, excited, and you can always read more if you want to. Before you know, it you’ll have finished the book and can enjoy the sense of satisfaction.
