‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is Now a Novel

Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is now officially a novel! The Oscar-winning director’s novelization of the film was released today, June 29th.

 

 

According to Deadline, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood book is 400 pages long, and is an extension of the events from the movie. Tarantino’s film earned itself ten Oscar nominations. Brad Pitt won the award for Best Supporting Actor, while Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh won Best Production Design. The film also starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie. One the plotlines the novel will go further into is the background of Pitt’s character, Cliff Booth, and his sketchy background, specifically whether or not Booth murdered his wife. The movie is set in 1969 Hollywood.

Tonight, Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema is hosting a book launch for the novel, but the event is sold out. Another is not scheduled as of right now. Currently Tarantino is in L.A. on a press tour for the novel. Deadline stated that he told Bill Maher in an interview on Real Time with Bill Maher that he is planning on retiring from filmmaking after his newest movie. He also claims he will not create a reboot of Reservoir Dogs, even though he considered the idea before.
