Get ready dearest readers as songwriting duo Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear have announced the release date of their concept album for The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical. Inspired by the hit Netflix series, the album will be released on September 10 on all major streaming and downloading music services.
With music and lyrics by Barlow and Bear, Barlow will be providing vocals for the album with Bear providing orchestrations as well as vocals. The full album, which will be mixed by Scott Smith, is being produced by Bear with Joris Hoogsteder co-producing “If I Were a Man.”
After binge-watching Bridgerton (along with most of the world), Barlow and Bear were inspired to create original music based on the first season of the regency drama. Written and composed by Barlow and Bear, the Bridgerton musical went viral on TikTok, garnering over 36 million likes. As their original creation blew up, the duo decided to bring their over 2 million followers into the creative process by live-streaming their writing sessions.
The tracklist for the concept album includes 15 original songs such as “Tis The Season”, “Lady Whistledown”, “If I Were a Man”, “Penelope Featherington”, “The Ruse”, “Fool for You”, “Alone Together”, “Entertain Me”, “Friend Turned Foe”, “Burn For You”, “Worker Bee”, “Every Inch”, “Burned Me Instead”, “Balancing the Scales”, and “Ocean Away”.
Barlow and Bear also have their first live performances lined up, first appearing at England’s Bicester Village from August 12-14, then performing on August 29 at Elsie Fest in New York City.
