René-Jean Page charmed viewers everywhere with his role as Simon Basset, The Duke of Hastings, in the Netflix historical drama Bridgerton. Although fans were quite disappointed to learn that Page would not return to Bridgerton for season two, it will not be long before he appears on screen again.
Recently, Collider announced that Page has been cast in the film reboot of The Saint. The film is based on the novels by Leslie Charteris, which were published in the early twentieth century. The novels’ plots focus on a man named Simon Templar as he hunts and takes down criminals. Collider reports Templar was a very popular character and he appeared in many comics, serials, movies, and television shows. Page’s role is undisclosed as of now, as are specifics about the reboot’s plot and other characters.
Lorenzo DiBonaventura, Brad Krevoy, and Mark Vahradian are listed as producers for The Saint, while Kwame Kwei-Armah will write the script, reports Deadline. Robert Evans, who directed the 1997 film adaptation, passed away in 2019 and will receive a posthumous producer credit.
The Saint is not the only film fans will get to see Page star in. He’s also set to appear in both The Gray Man with Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling, as well as the Dungeons & Dragons film with Chris Pine, Ansel Elgort, and Sophia Lillis.
