The editors at the Guardian have announced the shortlist for their First Book Award. This marks just the second time in the prize’s history that a poetry book has reached the shortlist.
Notable works on the shortlist include Chigozie Obioma’s The Fishermen and Max Porter’s Grief is the Thing With Feathers, both of which have already received plenty of accolades. The aforementioned poetry collection is Physical by Andrew McMillan, which focuses on the male body. Check out the full shortlist below!
As the name suggests, the Guardian First Book Award is given for outstanding authorial debuts. One of these six shortlisted books will be announced as the winner on November 25th.
