‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Confirmed

The critically acclaimed Korean thriller was just confirmed for a second season according to creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.

Since its release on September 17th, Squid Game has become an international sensation. It’s already reached more than three billion minutes of views and is projected to make Netflix $891 million. This nine-episode series follows the lives of hundreds of desperate contestants competing to win a violent fictional gameshow.

The series’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, confirmed the plans for a second season during an interview with the Associated Press Monday night at the red carpet screening.

Hwang told the AP, “There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice! But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.”

Though the details of the series haven’t been released, Hwang told his fans, “I will promise you this, Gi-hun will come back.” The return of the series’s protagonist, played by Lee Jung-jae, leaves fans in anxious anticipation for the release of more information.
