The Doctors Are Out Plot

Dr. Matias Guevara tends to his patients in his health clinic. But, he’s stooped when there’s a veterinarian clinic next door, with a last name that is almost exactly like his. Dr. Fernando Guevara is the new vet in town, and their patients are getting confused. This causes a petty rivalry which causes them to bicker and compete with one another. When their pasts begin to come to the surface, will they be at each other’s throats, or will they heal each others’ hearts?

Characters

Fernando Guevera and Matias Guevara

Dr. Fernando Guevera is a veterinarian that decided to start his own clinic in a small town. He wanted a fresh start after his tragic separation from his ex wife. He is a stubborn man who has things done in a meticulous way, not to mention always on the defense. But he wanted to be someplace new and help so many animals.

Dr. Matias Guevara is a beloved medical doctor in his neighborhood town. He is very playful and fun, because his son Lorenzo. He usually keeps to himself when he feels certain pressures or situations. He doesn’t like causing drama when it comes to Lorenzo’s mother’s side of the family.

When both these doctors meet, they are like ying and yang. They counterbalance the other sides to themselves that haven’t been moved in a long time. Although Fernando can be a bit uptight, Matias is more playful and adventurous. At first they are enemies, having petty competitions with their clinics, but they soon have an understanding, a friendship.

Lorenzo

Lorenzo is Matias’s son. He comes around when Matias’s time to watch over him. When he’s not with Matias he is with his grandmother. Lorenzo’s mother isn’t in the picture. He is a sweet boy and takes a liking to Dr. Fernando.

Leo

Leo is Matias’s assistant at the medical clinic. He has been best friends with Matias since kindergarten. Leo is a transgender man who has taken care of Matias during his times with his son Lorenzo and the medical clinic. He usually does more than an assistant should do but he would do anything for his friend. He has also shown interest in Mary.

Mary

Mary is Fernando’s assistant at the vet clinic. They have been best friends since middle school. She has been there for Fernando when he struggled with his marriage. She worked with him before in the veterinarian filed and when he wanted to start his own veterinary service she packed up and moved to this new town with him. She tries to encourage him and use tough love to get him out of his comfort zone. She is smitten by Leo, and they both get along as they are amused by Fernando and Matias’s annoyance for each other.

Miguel Salvidar

Miguel is Matias’s best friend. He works overseas at a company and is the one who always checks up on Matias. He feels like it’s his job to fix Matias, although his heart is in the right place. However, Matias needs to learn on his own to ask for help. Miguel needs to learn when to just listen instead of taking action. He is very playful and tries to lighten the mood most of the time, but he has a heart of gold and cares deeply for Matias.

Francis Guevera

Francis is Fernando’s little brother. He tends to ask for money and doesn’t make wise decisions. He lacks motivation but still is desperate to get his act together. He has that biker vibe, not just because he has a motorcycle. He has kept contact with Fernando’s ex wife. Although he hasn’t talked to Fernando, he wants to amend his mistakes and try to make better decisions for his future. It doesn’t help that he has a keen interest with Miguel.
