The Weeknd fans behold: we have been given a gift from the Starboy himself. On October 7th at New York Comic Con, Abel Tesfaye finally unveiled his teased collaboration with Marvel Comics. Starboy, set to release next year, is a comic book series based on Tesfaye’s 2016 album of the same name.
The series is meant to be a play on the album, or, more specifically, a continuation of the identity he takes up on this album. “I guess this is the fourth chapter,” he told Pigeons and Planes at the Marvel Comics booth, where he was signing official copies of the first issue.
The album itself tells the story of a man living in a world of imagination and delusion, and, between those, are stormy emotions, drugs, and women. Fans of The Weeknd know that these are recurring themes in his music, so we can all appreciate the man for staying consistent and focused.

The character Starboy is drawn to look like Tesfaye. It’s interesting to see how he’s transposed a character we’ve only imagined through his music into a comic book. Tesfaye does assure us that we’ve seen him before, saying, “He’s definitely made his appearance in different records in the past, as well. He’s a more braggadocious character that we all have inside of us.” Do you think you could find Starboy in The Weeknd’s sonic library?
Tesfaye and Marvel haven’t announced an official release date of the comic book but, as far as we know, he will be opening up a few pop-up shops around the U.S. and Canada next year where you’ll definitely go Starboy-crazy. Check below to see if he’s stopping by your city:
