For us book lovers, one of our most prized possessions, besides books themselves, is our bookshelf. Tall, short, skinny, wide, they come in all shapes sizes, colors, and materials. We want our bookshelf to be the envy of all those who look upon it.
My bookshelf is not exactly up to par lately as most of my beloved books are still at my parent’s house in a box. But, the books I do have on my bookshelf now are thrown together without any method to them. I don’t have any particular organization method, but some do. Whether it’s by color or genre, some prefer to keep their books in order. Here are some ways to organize your bookshelf.
1) Alphabetically

While it may seem a bit library-ish, keeping your books in alphabetical order can be incredibly useful. You always know where to go for a certain book and you always know if something’s missing.
2) Color

Something is pleasing about a bookshelf in color order. From red jackets to green and yellows, the hues adorn the shelf with an interesting view. Not only does this method add a decoration to the room, but it also makes your books pleasing to the eye.
3) Genre

A bookshelf in order by genre is an efficient way to be an expert book recommender. Say a friend comes over and they’re looking for a good book in the historical fiction arena…you know exactly where to pull from!
4) Don’t organize at all!

Sometimes an unorganized bookshelf is the best bookshelf. Books strewn here and there can be an inadvertent way of making a statement!
