Write N’ Fight: The Game Where You Fight Writers

Who would win in a fight, H.P. Lovecraft or a really buff Ernest Hemingway? The answer to that question can be found in the upcoming game, Write N’ Fight.

Do you ever stay up late at night thinking about what famous writer could hold their own in a fight? Maybe you’ve got some long-harbored grudge against the classical canon writers for their tedious storytelling? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’re in luck. This November, game developer AVOS’ will be releasing Write N’ Fight, a game where you get to beat up famous writers.

Released through Steam, Write N’ Fight lets you choose from a lineup of 14 writers, all from classical literature, to fight it out in arenas inspired by their work. Most of the writers you get to choose from were pretty terrible in their personal lives if that gives you an incentive to partake in the pummeling.

The writers: Mark Twain, Leo Tolstoy, H.P. Lovecraft, Ernest Hemingway, William Shakespeare, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Charles Dickens, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, James Joyce, Cao Xeuqin, Alexandre Dumas, Akutagawa Ryunoske, Erich Maria Remarque, and Alessandra Manzoni.

Players get to mix and match their writers, to see who’s the better fighter. Each writer has the ability to summon their own “magic” arena as a way to, according to the game’s Steam page, “become the boss of a level for a short time.” While the arena is up, the game turns into an arcade and the “boss” player attempts to defeat you before time runs out.

From what is available both in images and game descriptions, it looks like each writer has some unique skillset that they bring to the game. Not much is said on what exactly those skills are, though. Even so, it will be interesting, as the release looms nearer, to see what else the game has in store for players. Write N’ Fight will be a single-player experience with the opportunity for an online PvP set-up.

The official release date is November 20, 2021. May the best writer win!
