It’s official: Bob Dylan will not be traveling to Sweden to receive his controversial Nobel Prize in Literature.News broke from the Associated Press that the singer was unable to attend, but he did send a speech! A speech, that, if his previous behavior is any indication, will be brief, cryptic, and evasive. This is likely the third and final public flake out on Dylan’s part. Just weeks ago, he failed to show up to the White House for the Nobel meet and greet, despite Obama’s praise of Dylan’s work. The two obviously discussed the return of Gilmore Girls, and the famous final four words of the last episode, that creator Palladino apparently had planned long ahead of time. Accomplished entrepreneur and music journalist Jeff Antebi is bringing us an impressive assembly of visual art and stories called Stories For Ways and Means. The book has been ten years in the making. It’s being referred to as a ‘literary mixtape’, and it will feature 350 pages of never before seen visual art from some big names, as well as some accompanying vignettes. As far as I can tell, every reader thinks they don’t read often enough, or well enough. It’s no secret that as we get older, it becomes more difficult to find the time and energy to commit oneself to a book. Our minds become contaminated by interpersonal drama, career concerns, and general anxiety, and it can seem almost impossible to let all that go for a couple hours a day.
