We are steadily approaching the end of 2021 in just a couple of days and there were so many things that happened this year—especially bookish things. We are so excited about what 2022 will bring so here are five bookish things that we can’t wait for and you should put on your calendars and reminders!
1. Netflix’s Persuasion Remake
A Jane Austen production is always welcome in our books! Coming sometime in 2022, Netflix’s remake of Jane Austen’s Persuasion is available to stream. The adaptation stars Dakota Johnson, Henry Golding, Cosom Jarvis, Richard E. Grant, Suki Waterhouse, Mia McKeena-Bruce, and Nikki Amika-Bird and will be directed by Carrie Cracknell.

Oscar-winning actress, Viola Davis, is to release her memoir, Finding Me, sometime in April 2022. Davis’s memoir will be published by HarperOne and will talk about her life from navigating poverty and family life to starring in some of her most memorable Hollywood roles. Davis says, “I believe that our stories, and the courage to share them, is the most powerful empathetic tool we have. This is my story … straight no chaser.”
3. Ocean Vuong’s Time Is a Mother Will Be Released
Acclaimed poet and the voice of our age, Ocean Vuong, is to release his second poetry collection, Time Is a Mother, on April 5, 2022. A line from the highly anticipated collection speaks, “How else do we return to ourselves but to fold / The page so it points to the good part. The book will be released by Penguin Random House.
4. Return to Middle Earth With Amazon Prime
It’s been a long time since we last traveled to Middle Earth and Amazon Studios will bring us right back! Amazon Prime has set the date on September 2, 2022, for their new series based in Middle Earth. The new series will take place about a thousand years before the events of Bilbo Baggins and the Lord of the Rings.
5. HBO Max’s ‘Return to Hogwarts’ Special
Return to Hogwarts and the world of Harry Potter on January 1, 2022! HBO Max will host the highly anticipated reunion where our favorite cast and crew will reunite for the celebration of 20 years of Harry Potter on the golden screen.
