There are so many books in the world, and not enough of them are adapted into movies or a series. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of movies and shows are based off of books, some you might not even realize, but there are other books that haven’t had the chance to be put on screen. Everyone has their own opinion of what books need to be adapted, and I have a very long list, but these five books are the first six that come to mind when I think of movie or a show I would love to watch.
1. Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger

Keeper of the Lost Cities would be great as a Netflix series. If you haven’t read it or heard of it, then you must add it to your list, because this should not be overlooked. It follows Sophie Foster, who finds out she is an elf with many different abilities. She learns she had to be hidden in the human world until she was ready to join the elf world, and now the time has come. Suddenly, Sophie is starting a new life, all while learning to control her powers, and save the elf world. For a young teen, Sophie has a lot thrown at her, but it’s nothing the little moonlark can’t handle, even though she gets overwhelmed sometimes. I would love to see this series adapted to screen, because Sophie and Keefe is one dynamic duo that needs to be brought to life. Keefe is one of Sophie’s closests friends, and he has one big crush on her that she is completely oblivious to. Please Netflix, pick up this series and make it into a show!
2. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

Three Dark Crowns is another series that would make for great TV. Whenever I think of this series, I think about the CW show Reign, that aired a few years back. It has a similar theme to it, except Reign was about Mary Queen of Scotts, and this series is about three sisters that have to battle each other for the throne. There are so many twists and turns in this series, and it would make for great TV. Each sister; Mirabelle, Arisone, and Katherine, has a different talent. Mirabelle is the strongest elemental in decades and the one everyone believes will take the throne. Katherine is a weak poisoner, and Arisone struggles with her naturalist abilities. It’s a dark story, kind of like a Grim Fairytale, but with five books, and each book could be turned into a season. CW or Netflix needs to pick this up, because fans of this series will definitely tune in.
3. Far From the Tree by Robin Benway

Far From the Tree would make a great movie. If you’ve never read it, then you need to because it’s such a nice story. It’s not necessarily action-packed or a page turner, but it is a good plot. It’s about three siblings that meet for the first time, because all three of them are adopted by different families. They come together to get to know each other and to find out what they can about their birth parents. I read this a long time ago, but I do love this book and how nicely it flowed. It’s rare when I come across a book that’s just interesting and paces nicely, and tells a real story about real people, that isn’t cliché or full of action. This book kind of reminds me of a Lifetime movie, something you would watch on a Sunday afternoon. It would be great for Lifetime, or Netflix or even Hulu. This is just a good book that I would love to see come to life.
4. The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

The Poet X would be great as a Netflix series or movie. It’s hard to choose with this one, but regardless it just needs to be on screen. The story follows Xiomara, who writes all of her emotions down in her journal, where she loves to write poetry. Her mother is extremely strict, and doesn’t allow Xiomara the freedom to do what she wants or even have passion for what she likes. It’s either her mothers way or the highway, and that causes Xiomara to rebel and go behind her mothers back to have a life that makes her happy. I would prefer this as a movie, because it’s just one book and a series would prolong it and add elements to it that would ruin the meaning of the book. So, a movie would be best for this, and.I hope one day it will be.
5. Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

Love and Other Words would be perfect for a Hallmark or a Netflix movie. It’s a romance novel about two old friends, that run into each other after ten years of no contact. Macy and Elliot have a long history together, that was tarnished after one night that changed their lives forever, and when they come face to face they just can’t stop thinking about each other. It’s such a cute story, and it would be great on Hallmark, because it even sounds like one of those Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Once I put this book down, I was disappointed that I couldn’t see it come to life, so I hope someone picks it up.
6. November 9 By Colleen Hoover

November 9 needs to be a movie that releases in theaters on November 9th, or could be released on Netflix on that date. This book is one that made me feel so many different emotions, that I had to put it down at times just to process everything I was feeling, and because I needed a break. This story is about two people, Ben and Fallon, who meet on November 9th and vow to have no contact with each other until the following November 9th at the same restaurant. So much happens within the five years that they meet, and it’s so many twists and turns, it’s an amazing novel that just leaves you wanting more. I am very disappointed that this hasn’t been picked up yet for a movie. In my opinion, Netflix needs to jump on this because this movie would be amazing.
