It was an exciting month for books, which included the announcements of the National Book Award longlists and the Man Booker Prize shortlist. We’ve chosen 14 books from this month that we think you’ll enjoy picking up, with some of them gaining spots on those coveted awards lists.
This month, David Lagercrantz stepped into the late Stieg Larsson’s shoes to give new life to Lisbeth Salander in the continuation of the Millennium series. Comedian and actress Mindy Kaling released her second collection of essays, and actor Jesse Eisenberg gave us a book of short stories that’s already generating buzz. Terry Pratchett’s last novel in the Discworld series was released postmortem. September also brought us new work from experienced writers like Neil Gaiman, Margaret Atwood, and William Boyd.
