Growing up as a bookworm in the 90’s was an exciting time for two reasons. Let’s face it, poetry isn’t everyone’s favorite part of English class – now it’s seen even less in classrooms. Common Core standards across the United States ask teachers to tie what books and poetry they include in their curriculum to current events in order to keep up with students’ interests.
