For the love of books
Maggie Stiefvater’s All the Crooked Saints is a book about miracles, but these miracles do not come easily. The Soria family is capable of performing miracles that draw out the darkness within a person, giving it physical shape, so that their clients can figure out how to dispel it…here are some particularly interesting forms that darkness takes within the book.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is truly an epic book, full of commentary on practically everything. You can open it to a random page and find something that’s either interesting and hilarious…There is so much material to work with that I considered listing 42 of my favorite sections, but I figured that would be too much, so here’s seven:
Reading this book has made me wonder, though, about what books will look like post-pandemic. For many people, the pandemic has changed their lives dramatically, coming with new norms and new challenges, and I feel like that’s going to be reflected in the media we consume.
outside of DnD, all we see is unicorns, griffons, and maybe some goblins if we’re lucky. In order to spread the love, I have searched through several DnD manuals for a few creatures that, for whatever reason, should receive more attention.
Jack and Algernon, do whatever they can to change their names in order to be with them…There’s a lot of social commentary, but what especially catches my eye is the significance that Wilde places on playing a role – in this case the role of Ernest, among others.
