As we snuggle in our favorite reading spot with a cup of coffee (or something stronger), we experience a myriad of emotions while sifting through the pages of our favorite book, or a new book we’ve just picked up from the shelf.
Whether it is the struggle that our favorite character endures or the vivid imagery that tugs us into the scene, reading can be emotional AF. What it boils down to is the way an author is able to find just the right words to hit us right in our emotional spots (damn you, John Green).
Here are 10 beautiful lines from literature that made us feel things:

–“The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald

— “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy

–“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” by J.K. Rowling

–“The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green

–“The Perks of Being A Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky

–“Ignite Me” by Tahereh Mafi

–“Perfect” by Ellen Hopkins

–“Memoirs of a Geisha” by Arthur Golden

–“Saving Fish From Drowning” by Amy Tan
