A new year means new TV shows to watch; previews and premieres begin to bombard us and I’m lucky if I can keep up with just one let alone five.Guess what? I’ve got another to add to the list and it’s from one of the biggest, darkest, and successful authors I know. Yes, Stephen King is getting another TV adaptation.

Deadline has reported that Chris Long and David Ayer of Cedar Park Entertainment have received the rights to King’s narrative poem “The Bone Church”, and will develop a new TV series of the same name. First written in the 1960s, “The Bone Church” was later revised and added to King’s anthology The Bazaar of Bad Dreams.

The eerie poem tells the story of a group of explorers who conducted an expedition to go deep within the jungle in search of the legend that is the Bone Church. However, they stumble on something not meant for strangers’ eyes and only three of the thirty-two explorers make it out alive. The story is told by one of the survivors as he’s seated at a bar somewhere, telling the dark tale to the patrons around him. Sounds spooky.

Ironically enough, Long was a producer in the hit show Mr. Mercedes, so this simply lengthens his work with King. Ayer also directed Suicide Squad so this show is bound to have some really nice touches. The story sounds scary and King is busy as hell with IT: Chapter 2 as well as Castle Rock. Fingers-crossed this bone-chilling adaptation gets his full attention.
