Books (and the characters within them) can bring out a lot of emotions in us: joy, sadness, anger, frustration, confusion, sometimes most or all at once! Maybe you felt kind of bad for a certain character’s bad luck or downfall despite knowing how it was going to end, or were grief-stricken over a certain character’s death (more on that as you read on), or felt pure satisfaction at another character’s getting what they deserved, or were utterly confused at what Shakespeare was trying to say to you through his incredibly complex characters. The list goes on, and so will this one…
Good, bad, and everything else in-between, here are some tweets that’ll surely give you the feels!
Emo Odysseus
Usually, emo music is there to help you cope, to help you feel better in letting you know that there had been someone out there in the world who had felt the same way you do in that very moment and just decided to put those feelings into music. In this case, however, the kind of music that Odysseus wants to listen to is the kind that his crewmen shouldn’t listen to, lest all of them be lured towards certain death by whirlpool and three-headed monster out at sea…
crewman: you okay?
odysseus: yeah i'm fine

And the inverse tweet shows us just how turned off each of his crew can be by his music…

The moral of the story is this: don’t feel as if you have to prove something to yourself (and the spouse you cheated on several times) by listening to something that’ll just turn everyone else off.
S.W.A.P.T. (Or, Sealed With A Personal Touch)
It’s hard to make everything personal and original nowadays, isn’t it? From our cover letters when applying for jobs and internships to our in-person greetings to other people, it’s not easy to make it about the other person when everyone is so different and unique. But if it’s someone you know and care very dearly for, try to make it all about them, at least for a moment, even if it’s just in the way you end a text or email to them, something like this…
Signing off an e-mail with WARM REGARDS:
– boring
– impersonalSigning off an e-mail with GOOD NIGHT SWEET PRINCE, AND FLIGHTS OF ANGELS SING THEE TO THY REST:
– unexpected
– very personal

Hey, you never know what might happen, so might as well send nice and touching thoughts their way in case you never get to ever again… Isn’t that sweet?
The Title Of “Timeless”: Nature Vs. Cargo Pants
The saying is that you can’t step into the same river twice, because even for just the two seconds you take your foot out and put it back in, the river’s changed and in some way, so have you! The same goes for what the conventional poets have thought of as “timeless,” like nature, things that seemingly always stay the same…
when poets go “i want only timeless references in my work” & mean nature… hasn’t nature changed, been changed? the ocean now is not the ocean 100 years ago. the sky isn’t. species are dying. &: it’s tricky to predict what will become outdated. like, cargo pants are back! (sigh)

Who’s to say what’s still timeless and what isn’t anymore? When does the “timeless” stop being timeless? (I hope you answered: when we’ve got less of time!) At least we’ve still got the art of poetry itself, because no matter how you write it – via the classic paper and pen(cil), your phone, your computer screen, your tablet (either electronic or stone), whatever – as long as it’s written in however form you have it take on, it will always be timeless… (Take that, cargo pants!)
What’s A Party Without Drama?
Oh Gatsby, Nick’s story about you would’ve been far less interesting without your need to make things a bit more complicated, like say throwing parties that serve alcohol during Prohibition practically every night just so the woman of your dreams from your past finally strolls around. That would be one thing – and it worked! – but to invite her and her current husband? Well…
Nick: Why would you invite Tom? Aren't you having an affair with his wife?

Gatsby, I’ll always love you – I mean, truly – but you really need to think these through…
An Ending You Can’t Imagine
And speaking of Gatsby, look where our titular chaser of dreams – and repeater of the past – finally winds up after creating all of that unneeded drama…

Tragic, indeed. At least he actually became a “[boat] against the current,” forever “borne back ceaselessly into the past.” (Sorry, I had to.)
Ah, How Fickle (And Painful) Love Can Be…
Love can make us do crazy things and can come and go just like the wind, but when you’re Romeo, your emotions can change in the blink of an eye… and can hit you with sheer force if you’re not too careful!

So, let this be a warning for when you try to do parkour: you don’t want to be a Romeo, trying to dodge the many forces going against you when you’re in love with someone you can’t have or ever be with (at least in this life), so proceed with caution… or else you’ll die…
Mamma Mia, Hermione!
Speaking of young love, compare how happy one would be going to a ball (or party) to how one would feel coming out of it… Hold onto that thought. Now, picture that person as Hermione going to and coming out of the Yule Ball…

Hermione, “look at [you] now, will [you] ever learn”? (Of course, I had to sneak that in…)
In closing, I will just say that throughout your overall reading experience, whatever you may be feeling – however high or low or somewhere in the middle – be sure to take the time, sometime this month, to put the action in the book down, calm yourself, and remind yourself that when it all comes down to it, it is just a story. (Please don’t hate me for saying that…)
And now, as a little treat, here’s a bonus tweet that’s just too irresistible to be excluded!
Bonus Tweet: The Swift-Footed And The Single?
Hey, are you single and ready to mingle – in the days of ancient Greece during the time of the Trojan War? Then, check out this stud muffin…
Date me, I'm the whole package:
– a fearsome warrior
– invulnerable except for my heel
– just constantly furious
– always happy to let you borrow my clothes— SparkNotes (@SparkNotes) February 7, 2020
I think you can deduce who exactly this bachelor is… You might be wondering: what happened to his beloved/partner in crime? The response…
This is how Achilles asked him out
— SparkNotes (@SparkNotes) February 7, 2020
Enough said! (Also singles, my bad: it turns out he’s already taken…)
