Another week, another bookstagrammer’s feed to explore! This week, Bookstr’s #Bookstagrammer of the week is @mariannareads_. Her bright, warm aesthetic expresses her passion and love for books from a variety of genres.

Why did you start your Bookstagram:

I wanted a safe place to talk about my current read and fan-girl about my latest bookish crush. At the time, Instagram had started to take over our everyday lives, and I thought it would be fun to have a bookish account. I was surprised to find out that many others had the same hobbies as me: books and photography. I love combining the two! It’s always great to be able to share my thoughts with my fellow bookworms.

Where are you from:

I live in Athens, Greece. The good thing is that 320 days a year it’s sunny here and that means natural lighting! The bad thing is I love sweater weather and we don’t get much of it here.

What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world:

More love for books and less prejudice for certain genres. A book is a book no matter it’s contents. If it makes you happy then this is what matters. I try to show this every day through my pictures whether that’s promoting one of my favorite classics, a new YA fantasy novel, or a romance read.

Fun Fact about you:

I belong in the Gilmore Girl category of coffee consumption, aka I can drink my weight in it and still be able to function properly and even sleep at a “normal” hour.

Favorite Bookstagrammers:

Oh gosh. So many! The wonderful sister duo @_mkarys & @_ckarys, @aconjuringofmagic, @missmaddychats, @rusticpages, @a_fictiona_affair, @five.chapters, and so many more!

Favorite Books and Authors:

I’ll buy anything written by Sarah J Maas. My favorite book of hers is A Court of Mist and Fury. Also, the entire Harry Potter series couldn’t be missing from my favorite book category, with Prisoner of Azkaban holding a special place in my heart. Finally, for the classics, Wuthering Heights is my favorite, with Pride and Prejudice being a close second. All in all, besides SJM, I really love Leigh Bardugo, Cassandra Clare, Tolkien, George Martin, Diana Gabaldon, and Tahereh Mafi.

Fictional Crush:

Okay, this is going to take a while. Rhysand, Kaz Brekker, Heathcliff, Mr. Darcy, and Aaron Warner to name a few!

TBR List:

All the upcoming releases were recently added! So Blood and Honey, Midnight Sun, A Court of Silver Flames, and Chain of Iron. I can’t wait for these to be released!

What’s Your Special Approach to Content:

At first, I was just posting a book with a mug of coffee. But today I try to put together an aesthetically pleasing setting that will inspire others and, more importantly, future me. I always try to add some magic to my photos either through various edits or lighting.

Aesthetic / Instagram page theme:

I always aim for cozy vibes with a warm, clean, and bright touch.

How often do you post:

Every day! I add the date to every post and I like to go back and see what I was reading on that day and what I doing.

What does your Bookstagram mean to you:

It means there is a creative bone in me after all. I used to think my creativity went as far as creating an art project in school but now…to be able to take creative photos, play with lighting and Photoshop. It makes me feel proud that I was able to actually grow and be able to show it and share my work with the world.

Favorite Bookstore:

I’ll have to take you all the way to London. The Notting Hill Bookshop is my favorite physical store. One time I was there for two hours straight picking up books.

Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books:

Amazon? I hope this counts because I’ll be able to get books from all publishing houses!

Author to take a selfie with:

Definitely Leigh Bardugo or Sarah J Mass. These Queens have been doing a great job these past years!

Favorite book cover:

I love the cover of Circe and the Special Hardcover Edition covers of A Court Of Thorns and Roses, Six of Crows, and Crooked Kingdom.

Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t:

Great Expectations. I just couldn’t get to the end of it. I don’t think Dickens is for me after all.

When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer:

I don’t think I’ve “made” it as a bookstagrammer, but there are little moments when someone comes to me for book recommendations and that makes me just a tad happier.

Favorite fandoms:

Harry Potter. Always. Lord of the Rings, ACOTAR, Game of Thrones, Shadowhunters, Grishaverse, and Vampire Academy.

Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:

Just post about what you like. Write about what you love. And photograph what inspires you.
