Why did you start your Bookstagram?

August 2016

Where are you from?

Tennessee

What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?

With everything so dark and heavy lately, I hope my Instagram brings a little bit of light and happiness!

Fun Fact about you?

3 fun facts: I collect vintage pyrex dishes, I used to work for Disney, and I share a birthday with my toddler twins…our birthdays are all December 11!

Favorite Bookstagrammers?

My booksta-bestie @canxdancexreads, the always sweet @blondeandbookish, my soul friend @thebookwormadventures, the always thoughtful @rosegold.reader18, and the rest of my Girl Gang booksta-besties @thebookadvocate @bookishmommy @faerieontheshelf @mytimeoutshelf @pouringoverpages @rusticpages @samsaraparchment @addlebrained_reader and @plantedinpages (this is what we call ourselves and we’ve been together for almost three years…they’re some of my very best friends even though we’ve never met!)

Favorite Books and Authors?

I can’t choose a favorite book, but my favorites series are The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and both  A Court of Thorns and Roses and Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Fictional Crush?

Peeta from The Hunger Games is my true love

TBR List?

I’m hoping to finish up Danielle Jensen’s backlist, then I’m hoping my library hold of the new Hunger Games will be in!

What’s Your Special Approach to Content?

I want people to be able to see the real me through my content. I try to share bits of my day and life in my stories and captions, and I think people enjoy that…which is great, because I enjoy sharing! I heard an account once say that “nobody cares about your personal life, so don’t ramble about it” but I have found the exact opposite to be true.

In reference to my photos, I hope to show newbie bookstagrammers that you don’t have to go buy props just to have a “successful” bookstagram. In the last year, the only money I’ve spent on bookstagram was the $9 I spent on a pack of batteries to replace the dead ones in my fairy lights…(those fairy lights? A neighbor threw them out with their Christmas tree. So I pulled them off the discarded tree and took them home! haha)

Aesthetic / Instagram page theme?

A simple and cozy grid! I have my feed set up as a grid because I like the predictability of my photos and aesthetically, I love how organized my feed looks.

How often do you post?

I post daily, but schedule one or two days off a month.

What does your Bookstagram mean to you?

It’s such a special outlet for me. As a mom of 18 month old twins, I’m constantly giving of myself to others and seeing to other people’s needs. My bookstagram is the place that I reserve just for me. And the friendships I’ve made through my booksta have seen me through some of the hardest times in my life. My Girl Gang has loved me through some of my hardest years, and they came into my life when I needed them most. I’m so thankful for bookstagram!

Favorite Bookstore?

Parnassus Books in Nashville!

Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?

Sarah J. Maas

Author to take a selfie with?

Sarah J. Maas

Favorite book cover?

That’s a hard choice! I love books that have embossed covers, like King of Scars.

Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t?

Oh gosh, probably a classic. I’m a pretty open person though and don’t have a problem telling people I haven’t read certain books.

When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?

Every new milestone (starting way back when I had just 100 followers) has felt like I’ve “made it”…other than that, I really felt like I’d become a “successful” bookstagram when a publisher reached out to me and asked if I’d be interested in receiving an advanced copy of one of my most anticipated releases.

Favorite fandoms?

TOG and ACOTAR!

Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers?

Be you, do what you love, and don’t put pressure on yourself to be perfect! It takes time to figure out what you want your feed to look like and what you want your aesthetic to be, so give yourself grace and time while you’re trying to figure it out. My booksta-bff @canxdancexreads and I did a story series called BOOKSTA101 a few weeks ago and saved it to our highlights, and a lot of newbie bookstagrammers have told us it’s been so helpful to them. If you ever have any bookstagram questions, my DMs are always open! Let’s be friends!

Additional bookishness?

Two of my most prized bookish possessions are my first edition copy of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and my first edition original cover of Throne of Glass.
