Why did you start your Bookstagram:
I’ve always loved photography. When I accidentally stumbled upon a post on one of my other Instagram accounts, I saw a photo featuring a book, and in the caption they mentioned the hashtag #bookstagram. Before this, I had never even known about the community, so I immediately began to investigate further into it. After collecting some more information and doing some little planning, I quickly created my account on the 20th of June 2019! To answer the question, I saw the community as a new home where I could easily fit in and meet other people who love books just as much as I do while also mixing my two favorite hobbies together: books and photography.
Where are you from:
I was born in a little country town in Victoria, Australia, called Foster. I have been growing up in the same house and country community all my life and have big dreams to move away once I’m old enough.
What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world:
I honestly just want to make others feel supported and welcomed into the community through my account! It would also be a bonus if others got inspired by my photos and how age doesn’t matter when you’re doing something you love. I’m classified as a baby in the bookstagram community because of my young age, which caused some people to question my earlier posts at the start because of their display and high quality. I just explained how I’d had past practice and, because of it being a new passion of mine, that showed in my photos.
Fun Fact about you:
I’m an aspiring writer and have a big dream of becoming a published author one day! I’m currently working on writing multiple novels.

Favorite Books and Authors:
My favorite genre is fantasy, so my favorite authors are Sarah J. Maas, Amanda Hocking, Shelby Mahurin, Marie Lu, and Leigh Bardugo. Other authors I enjoy are Colleen Hoover, Erin Watt, Anna Todd, Ella Maise, Penelope Douglas, and L.J.Shen. As for favorite books, I have so many! But my current main favorites would be the Throne of Glass series, Trylle Chronicles, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Six of Crows Duology.
Fictional Crush:
This is another hard one with a lot of different answers that I could list but to put it simply…I crush hard on all males written by Sarah J Maas so take your pick.
TBR List:
I have a never-ending TBR and my involvement with bookstagram isn’t helping with slowing it down. Whenever I see someone’s post featuring a new book I haven’t heard of and they recommend it, then I instantly add it onto my TBR. My urgent books on my TBR right now would be Agnes at the End of the World by Kelly McWilliams, The Devil’s Night Series by Penelope Douglas, Nevernight Series by Jay Kristoff, and House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas.
What’s Your Special Approach to Content:
In regard to photos, I used to take them all at the start of each month in a big photoshoot, but now I prefer to capture them daily as it’s easier and I’m more creative that way. In regards to captions, I love to talk about whatever is the main focus of the photo. Sometimes I get stuck with what to write in captions and that’s why I like to join photo challenges because there is a prompt there to help me. When I ask the #qotd (question of the day) I always relate it back to what I was either talking about in the caption or to the photo and then I love replying to the comments and all the answers from my amazing friends and supporters.
Aesthetic / Instagram page theme:
I would say that my aesthetic/theme is autumn coziness. I love to include plants and candles in my photos too.
How often do you post:
I normally post once every day but sometimes I’ll post twice or more only if I have a tour, book review, giveaway, or shoutout session to also post that day!
What does your Bookstagram mean to you:
Bookstagram truly means so much to me! I’m constantly appreciative of how much the community has done for me in such a short time. It’s become my creative space where I am able to confidentiality express myself without any judgment from others.
Favorite Bookstore:
I mostly buy my books online from Book Outlet, Booktopia, or Book Depository. When I get to go physical book shopping, then my favorite and the easiest accessible stores for me are QBD Books and Robinsons Bookshop.
Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books:
I’d love it if all the publishers and authors out there supply me with a lifetime of books, but my future husband will most likely have that job, or even myself as I’m an independent woman.
Author to take a selfie with:
Definitely all the authors I mentioned above as my favorites, but the number one would be Sarah J Maas because she has inspired me so much with beginning my own writing journey, and it would be a dream come true to just meet her.
Favorite book cover:
I adore all the different designs for book covers so I can’t decide on a favorite.
Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t:
I’m always very honest with my followers and audience about everything I put on my account, whether it be book reviews or bookish topics, so I’ve never claimed to read a book I haven’t or may not have any interest in reading.
When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer:
Ever since starting my account, I always felt like I belonged, but it wasn’t until I started to grow quite quickly when I felt like I’d truly become a bookstagrammer who fit into the community. Also, hitting the big milestone of 10k completely shocked me as I never expected to get that big.
Favorite fandoms:
I’d say my main favorite fandom is definitely The Inner Circle from A Court of Thorns and Roses, since they are all special to me and radiate such strong friendships.
Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:
My advice would be:
Work out a posting schedule so you’re posting consistently
Stick with a specific theme/aesthetic
Use hashtags and join engagement groups
Always be honest! Especially with reviews
Support others in the community
Just have fun with it! Being your creative self will attract others to you. That way you’ll meet loads of new book people and make friends.
