At the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Wednesday, HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys stated that the final series of Game of Thrones will air in the “first half” of 2019.
In January, HBO confirmed fans worst fears that the show would not return for an entire year. This news was not unexpected, as show-runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had already announced plans to spend eighteen months assembling the ultimate season, in order for the beloved series to go out with a bang.

The final season will continue filming into the summer, however, several cast members, including Emilia Clarke who plays Daenerys Targaryen, have already filmed their final scenes and bid farewell to the show.
