Thronies, a rejoicing news comes your way! Based on confirmed reports from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, HBO is presently working on three new spin-offs set within George R.R. Martin’s fictional world of Game of Thrones.

The new projects are a trio of prequels including 9 Voyages (aka Sea Snake), Flea Bottom and 10,000 Ships

The clues about the GoT expansion suggest that the Sea Snake project appears to be “more fully formed,” with a creative team on board to develop it. The ideas behind the remaining two, however, are yet being explored. HBO declined to comment.

Bruno Heller, The Mentalist creator, Rome co-creator and Gotham developer, is understood to be involved in this project, alongside Martin himself.

In a talk with Deadline, HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys said last month that they’ve been talking about various areas to develop.

“George R.R. Martin’s world is so big and what’s interesting about it, not only is it big but he’s got a lot of road maps in terms of history,” Bloys told Deadline.

“The good news with the prequels,” Bloys added, “is that there is history that George has laid out.”

When it comes to the lesser-known areas of Martin’s universe, here’s what folks unfamiliar with them need to know: The Sea Snake project circles around the journey of the eponymous ship, the one responsible for some of Corlys Velaryon’s greatest sea voyages. 10,000 Ships follows the warrior queen Princess Nymeria, who traveled from Essos and founded the kingdom of Dorne in Westeros, following their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold. Lastly, the Flea Bottom one is set in the eponymous location, which is the poorest slum district in King’s Landing.

The spinoffs would be joining an ever-growing number of GoT offshoots, including the soon-to-film prequel series House of the Dragon, a potential adaptation of Martin’s Tales of Dunk & Egg novellas, and a possible GoT animated series.
