If you read or watch Game Of Thrones, you know that there’s going to be a lot of blood. HBO took full advantage of this fact at this year’s SXSW conference in Austin, Texas.
The American Red Cross teamed up with the mega-franchise for “Bleed #ForTheThrone”, an interactive attraction that also functions as a blood drive. Those who attend will walk through elaborate sets based on Westeros locations, meet actors dressed as their favorite characters, and listen to a choir sing the familiar GOT theme song. And at the end, they all donate a little blood for a good cause.
Those who donate are rewarded with a free GOT t-shirt and are automatically entered into a contest to win a trip for five to the season eight premiere.
Here are some photos of the event:

This is just one of the many elaborate showcases studios make at SXSW to promote upcoming content, so it’s nice to see HBO use its flagship show for a good cause, especially when Red Cross is experiencing blood shortages.
Several of our favorite characters have bled for the throne. Now, it’s our turn!
