Who else was absolutely fascinated with the Targaryen family and their history? If you loved George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, then you have a television series based on that book to look forward to! HBO recently announced the new Game of Thrones television prequel series: House of Dragon.

House of Dragon takes place 300 years prior to the events of A Game of Thrones. This will tell us the story of the Targaryen family–elaborating on the history that we have learned by following Daenerys’ journey from Essos, to across the sea, to Westoros and beyond. Though Dany will likely not play a role in this prequel series, it’ll be exciting to watch how her ancestors interacted with the world around them!

Martin Condal and Ryan Condal are co-creators for this new series. Paddy Considine will star as King Viserys Targaryen, Olivia Cooke will play Alicent Hightower, Emma D’Arcy will be Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, and the one and only Matt Smith will play Prince Daemon Targaryen. We have quite the cast of actors and actresses lending their talents to this series!

Though we don’t have a premiere date just yet, this announcement in and of itself is quite exciting!
