Grumpy Cat’s nonfiction works center around her self-recognized skill as a demotivational influencer whose sole purpose in life is to fight back against a culture of forced optimism in stressful times. Her most popular book, a 2014 hardcover called The Grumpy Guide to Life: Observations from Grumpy Cat, features centerfold photographs of the remarkably expressive feline with such relatable quips as “Absence makes the heart grow fonder — of your absence.”
