Scott Mescudi, AKA the rapper Kid Cudi, has decided to venture out into new artistic realms beyond music. He has recently developed a production company under the name of “Mad Solar” with one of their main projects being an adaptation of the novel Real Life by author Brandon Taylor, which will also star Cudi as the lead.
Real Life, published earlier this year in February, is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age novel about the author. It tells the story of a queer black man who is a scientist in a mainly white Midwestern Ph.D. program. Over one weekend, the story follows romantic relationships, mercies and betrayals, and friendship complexities.
Kid Cudi has been in the recent HBO series, We Are Who We Are, and on the NBC show Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He will also appear in the Netflix feature Don’t Look Up. His production company, Mad Solar, has also created and produced the Netflix animated series Entergalactic.
