For the fourth year in a row, October 10 marks Star Wars Reads Day, with over a thousand events planned internationally. Publishers are hosting meet-and-greets with authors, panel discussions, readings, Star Wars themed games and other events in an effort to promote literacy as well as the December 18 release of the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens.
Star Wars Reads events are scheduled to take place in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Spain, the UK, and the US. Since its inauguration in 2012, the annual literary celebration has encompassed over 2,500 events. This year is unique, in that the event will also feature over twenty books built around the upcoming film.
