My grandmother has lived through decades of picture books. Born in 1944, she grew up during the rise of Seuss. She raised her children in a thriving picture book industry. She read her grandchildren new books as they came out, her collection ever-growing. Even now, when her youngest grandchild is 6 and is learning to read chapter books, my grandmother continues to buy picture books for her shelves.
Out of a massive collection, it was difficult for her to narrow down her favorites. Her choices range from a worn book from her childhood to brightly colored modern bestsellers.
