You’ve read that right people. Starting this Saturday, March 14, TOMORROW, all New York Public Library locations will closed to the public until March 31st. The official decision was made to help support the wellbeing of our communities in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. They hoping that, in doing this, it will help contain the virus, stop it from spreading to senior folks and others who are at a higher risk of catching it if exposed. During this time, NYPL will suspend late fees and extend due. They will also try to expand the access to e-books. Which you can access on their app, SimplyE, using your library card.

So everyone, do yourselves a favor and take care of yourselves. Make sure to wash your hands when you can, carry hand sanitizer and tissues with you. And PLEASE sneeze and or cough into the crook of your elbow or into your jacket. Most importantly, if you don’t have to be out, don’t be. Look out for yourself and everyone around you. While you may not be able to access your local library, use this time to give your bookshelf some loving, instead.
